Easy Methods of Piano Instruction Empty

There's never been a better time to start playing the piano. Multimedia programs of study and piano instruction are revolutionising the way music is taught and you can take advantage of these new and easier paths to musical achievement simply by doing a little research on the internet.
Whilst teachers of orthodox piano insist on continuing to teach their students the old methods of music theory and practice, you can fast track your learning by choosing a much easier route to playing your favorite tunes.

This is not to say that musical orthodoxy is wrong. It's just not the way that large numbers of budding pianists want to learn to play. But, up until recently, they had no choice because the only method of piano instruction was the one that took the classical route.

THE CLASSICAL ROUTE:

This method of study involves learning to read every note on a musical score and playing each note that's written. No room for personal interpretation or improvisation - you play it exactly as you see it. Of course classical pianists, who take years to study their instrument, can play these musical scores to perfection and move you to tears in the process.

But most students of the piano don't want to spend years learning to play. It isn't that they are not prepared to work hard to achieve their goals as pianists. It's simply that they want to achieve them as quickly as is reasonably possible.

THE CHORDS ROUTE:

In recent years other methods have been developed, focussing on chords and arpeggios, and aimed at creating a better fit with less formal styles of music, such as blues, jazz, rock and pop. But these methods have usually been taught within a traditional context. In other words, you still had to read music, but then you learnt the chords of a piece of music once you were familiar with the score as written.

Meanwhile, professional piano players outside classical music used techniques in which the bass clef was made completely redundant, the left hand being used solely for playing chords, whilst the right hand played around the melody. Involving a thorough knowledge of chords and arpeggios, this method can be difficult to remember, but has the advantage of musicians being able to limit their playing according to their knowledge, skill and ambition. So, for example, many rhythm and blues bands played around a very limited number of keys and chords.

Of course, this method of instruction is still available and you can find a whole range of online piano lessons in which you can teach yourself how to play using these kinds of techniques.

INTRODUCING THE NEW AGE OF PIANO INSTRUCTION:

Now, as the internet becomes a more important tool for achieving an ever greater range of tasks, not only do we find ourselves using it more, for things like like shopping, searching for information, booking holidays, etc., but computer programming just keeps getting more sophisticated, so the programs we use to achieve these things just keep getting more intuitive.

And the same trends have been taking place in music, including piano instruction. Interactive software programs keep getting easier to use and people keep getting better at using them as they become more familiar with the technology.

So what does this mean for you as a newbie to the world of playing the piano? Simply put, music teachers are developing better ways of teaching people to learn how to play a musical instrument quickly, through the use of multimedia, which continues to offer greater prospects for students to participate interactively.

Here's a taster of what you can easily learn from just some of these programs:

• Just he aspects of written music you need to to be familiar with to establish a base line for quickly learning to play your favorite tunes
• How to play music quickly, rather than the mechanical methods of involved in orthodox teaching
• The rules of harmony, independently of musical notation
• The standard chord symbols used by professional musicians
• The chords and arpeggios you need to be familiar with in playing your favorite tunes
• How to learn patterns of chords to help you to improvise around any tune.

And most importantly, you will be able to watch your instructor demonstrate precisely what to do and how to do it. Repeat the process as many times as you need to. Just run the video again and again until you get things right.

CONCLUSION

Now is a very exciting time to learn to play the piano. More piano teachers and professional pianists than ever are entering into the multimedia world of piano instruction. Whilst you will need to do your research to find a package that's suitable for you, there is now a huge range of choice to provide both the basic building blocks of playing the piano, as well as more advanced options to take your playing to a new level. So good luck and enjoy your playing.
