Talk about Parents

Heh...anyone else have these?(That sounds really weird...hahaha)

I really do love my parents, but they can be so strict about some things. A lot of things, I'm okay with, but other things, such as being forced to go to bed at 9:00 I just can't stand.

How strict is too strict? How do you think parents should do things?

Heh...discuss.

Hmm...9:00 as forced time I think is harsh if you're in middle or high school, but I have a frined who still goes to sleep at 9:00 by will. My Dad loves to tease people....My Mom can be overly scheduling and power-hungry at times...Otherwise they're cool.

My parents aren't strict at all, except with grades. C's= automatic ban from fun.

My parents aren't really that strict. Many things are just implied I suppose. Go to bed at ten. We used to go to bed at 9:00. But for a couple years now, we go to bed at ten. We always tell mom or papa where we are going, who we'll be with and when we expect to be back. We always felt like we could do anything, we just felt invisible boundaries we didn't dare cross.

My parents aren't so bad. Me and my brother are living with our father, and he lets us do almost anything we can logically explain. We can go to bed whenever we want, but we must be rested and ready to wake up for school (about 7 o'clock). Of course, some extremes like getting home at 4 when you have to wake up at 6 aren't really a smart thing to do. We don't want to make him angry...

Probably the reason for a lot of my frustration towards my parents is that they're a bit...old fashioned.(They're 50+ years old, so...) But their attitudes towards clothes and all that kind of stuff of today doesn't really bother me; I'm too chunky to look good in much of anything, but it's the bedtime thing that bothers me the most.

We used to stay up until 11:00 last year, no problem. But now they've gotten all strict about that, and it's really frustrating, because some days I'm gone the whole day, so stuff that I really want to get done online, I have to stay up a bit later to do. Bleh...yeah.

Mom is making us go to bed at 8:30 now. It doesn't bother me much though. Cause if I decide to stay up later, i have to be studying. So I'd much rather sleep. Unless I'm behind, then I will totally stay up and study. But she made it my choice. (Happy Birthday mom!)

Mine are kind of strict. Gotta go to sleep by 9:30, unless studying or doing homework...plus I've got to practice my instruments. (I've got three...)

I don't get to stay up, even if I need to study...so it kind of sucks. But my school stuff isn't as demanding(I'm homeschooled.) as in a public school, so yeah...

I think my parents are nice when they're in a good mood, but about three times my mom broke something expensive because she was so mad. I have to go to sleep at 9:30 because unlike Lighty, I finish all my work before 7, including all three of my instruments and homework. I think 9:30 is too early to go to sleep. I always lie on the bed until 11, and then I always wake up at 3 or 4 AM. Just yesterday, I woke up 3 times! So I don't like curfews my parents set up.

*cough* So what if you finish first? You do know that I'm a year older, right?

I thought you were grounded. And don't say I am too, because I know. And your post has nothing to do with parents. At least I can say I dislike our parents because I got grounded.

I've got 4 instruments, plus more load of homework (except Lighty), AND more practiice for competition! Jeez, and YOU call yourselves busy!

Yeah, our parents are kinda strict. 9:30 curfew. Hafta practice 30 min. for each instruments, and it does add up for me! 2 HOURS! Oh, and not to mention in the summer. Jeezum.

Not really. Nowadays I go to bed at ten. Anyway, it's not like anyone in our household actually SLEEPS. More like, on the computer while in bed, listening to music, reading...

Only 30 minutes? Lucky. I have four instruments as well, but I have to practice an hour... Thankfully I make up lost time by staying up late at night. They still have no clue.

Actually, no one practices for a full 30 min, 'cept me. I play 45 min.

I read this entire thread and I have now came to the conclusion that I had it really easy XD

When I was in school, I usually had to be in bed by 11:30. But my mother never enforced that, instead she told me that I could stay up as long as I want, but if I screwed up at school it was my fault. I sometimes stayed up all night, and never had problems in school. (I used to play the Chello in 5th grade, but I never did any instruments after 5th grade)

I haven't even been grounded once in the last 5 years........
My parents are not lazy or bad parents. They just didnt want to (as they said) "Run a jail and make their kid miserable)

You mean Cello? No h. I haven't been grounded either, but practicing is such a chore...Oh wells. I'm not unsatisfied with my life. Get plenty of time for Anime and languages and get good grades. As long I have A's, my parents are happy.

And yea, pretty much the same thing with my parents, as long as I had A's (which was not a problem) they were happy.

When I had two instruments, we had to play each for 30 minutes. And we got ten cents for every time we practiced one. It was like our allowance. And we would get a quarter for every PACE we finished. (PACES are about 25-50 pages long depending on what grade you are in. Homeschool curriculum, you could call it, I guess.)

Anyway, Mom and I are having problems, kind of. About what I'm gonna do after school. I'm hoping I can win this.

Ah...should I say that I'm technically banned from the forum right now, but I'm on anyway?
